Ingredients:

  • 1 pound penne pasta
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Now, let's get started!

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Cook penne pasta according to package directions and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, stir together ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Spread about a cup of marinara sauce evenly on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  5. Add half of the penne pasta on top of the marinara sauce.
  6. Add half of the ricotta mixture on top of the penne pasta.
  7. Add another cup of marinara sauce on top of the ricotta mixture.
  8. Add the rest of the penne pasta on top of the marinara sauce.
  9. Add the rest of the ricotta mixture on top of the penne pasta.
  10. Add the last cup of marinara sauce on top of the ricotta mixture.
  11. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese on top of the last layer of marinara sauce.
  12. Last but not least, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the grated Parmesan cheese.
  13. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
  14. Bake for 25 minutes.
  15. Remove aluminum foil and bake for another 25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
